Emergency Ambulance Services

Medivac Emergency Ambulance Service is a private ambulance service in Singapore registered with the Ministry of Health (MOH) licensed to provide both Emergency Ambulance and Medical Transport Services (formally known as Non-Emergency Ambulance).

Ambulance Transfers

For local transportation, Medivac offers private ambulance services. Our “One-Stop” approach to patient care is our specialty. Among these services are

  • Transfers of ambulances between facilities and hospitals
  • Transfers by ambulance for appointments, dialysis, etc.
  • Transfers of hospital admissions and discharges
  • Transfers in an emergency to preferred hospitals and private hospitals
  • Transfers and specialized psychiatric response

Institutions and contract users are subject to special charges.

Our Emergency Ambulance team is trained to:

  • Manage trauma and medical emergencies for patients of all age groups.

  • Transport critically ill patients.

  • Handle mass casualty incidents.

  • Perform extrications for entrapment victims.

  • Provide both basic and advanced airway management.

  • Perform resuscitation with Advanced Cardiac Life Support for infants, children, and adults.

  • Monitor, interpret, and transmit ECGs to receiving hospitals while managing cardiac emergencies.

  • Administer medications such as nebulization, intravenous fluids, and medications, based on clinical protocols.

  • Manage emergency childbirths.

  • Care for infectious patients.

Patients will be conveyed to their preferred hospital only if their condition is stable, as determined by the attending ambulance paramedic or nurse. If the patient’s condition is life-threatening, the ambulance team will convey the patient to the nearest government hospital and remain on standby, ensuring the patient has the best chance of survival.

In addition to saving lives, Medivac is proud to support the “I Am Going Home” project, helping terminally ill patients fulfil their last wish to pass on surrounded by their loved ones in a familiar setting. Through collaboration with our medical equipment rental department and house call doctors, we make it possible for both intubated ICU patients and palliative patients on oxygen support (15 LPM) to return home for their final moments.

Medivac also provides Medical Transport Services (MTS) for non-emergency cases, including:

  • Hospital Discharge

  • Dialysis Treatment

  • Medical Standby

Other than Emergency Ambulance, our Ambulances are also catered for:

Medical Event Coverage

Medical Evacuation and Repatriation

Industrial Paramedicine

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1) Can I claim my insurance for the ambulance transportation?

If you have insurance coverage, most plans cover our ambulance fees and treatment costs during transportation to the hospital. To clarify the exact amount you can claim for ambulance transportation or home care services, we recommend checking with your insurance provider.

Q2) What is your classification of an emergency, and can I use a Medical Transport Service (MTS) to transport an emergency patient to the hospital?

The Ministry of Health (MOH) and our Clinical Governance Officer (CGO) have worked together to define what constitutes an emergency.

If your loved one is experiencing an acute condition such as significant pain, decreased level of consciousness, or difficulty breathing, it is likely to be an emergency. If you’re uncertain, contact our helpline, where our medically trained ambulance dispatcher can provide guidance.

If an MTS is dispatched to your location and the patient’s condition is later determined to be an emergency, an emergency ambulance will need to be activated. This may result in additional waiting time and cost for the patient.

Q3) Why can’t emergency patients be conveyed via a Medical Transport Service (MTS) vehicle?

A fully equipped MTS vehicle is not designed for emergency scenarios as it lacks sirens and emergency lights, which are crucial for expediting transportation when every second counts in an emergency.

Additionally, an Emergency Ambulance Paramedic or Nurse is trained to perform life-saving interventions and treatments on-site and can alert the receiving hospital to prepare for the patient’s arrival. MTS crews are not equipped or authorized to provide such critical care, making it unsuitable for transporting critically ill or emergency patients.

However, MTS vehicles can transport patients who are clinically stable or have non-critical conditions (e.g., back pain or diarrhea) to an emergency department or urgent care center.

Q4) What are your ambulance charges?

At our service, we believe in transparent ambulance charges. The base fee ensures that our skilled ambulance crew conducts a thorough assessment for your care. Should additional services be required, rest assured that all extra charges are clearly outlined in the price list available here. Your peace of mind is our priority.

Q5) Do you provide fixed ambulance pricing?

Our base fee covers the assessment of your loved one by our dedicated ambulance crew.

While our dispatchers are trained in medical protocols, they aren’t able to diagnose any underlying conditions over the phone. For example, a patient might mention that they are experiencing shortness of breath over the phone, but our crew may discover an underlying heart condition upon arrival. Sometimes, the patient’s condition may also change after we get there. That’s why it’s important to note that the base fee is NOT the final bill.

Once our crew has assessed the patient, our crew leader will provide you with a more accurate estimate of the final bill. We’re here to help and ensure your loved one gets the care they need!

Q6) What is your response time?

Our response time typically ranges from 25 to 45 minutes, depending on road traffic conditions and the urgency of the patient’s condition.

Q7) What type of cases can your emergency ambulance convey?

Medivac Emergency Ambulance Services is proudly licensed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to expertly handle and transport all medical and trauma emergencies to the hospital.

Our dedicated and medically trained ambulance dispatchers are ready to assess your needs over the phone, ensuring that every situation is addressed with urgency. In critical cases like cardiac arrest, if our ambulance is unable to arrive quickly, our dispatcher will promptly activate SCDF 995 while guiding you with essential first aid advice. This dual response not only prioritizes the patient’s safety but also guarantees the fastest possible medical intervention when it matters most.

Q8) What is the procedure for Terminal Discharge?

Your palliative doctor will typically explain the procedure for a terminal discharge. It is important to discuss the patient’s wishes with your palliative doctor so that appropriate arrangements can be made to honor their preferences.

Medivac collaborates with AIC-appointed Oxygen Concentrator partners, who provide subsidies for the rental of oxygen concentrators up to 15 LPM. We can also arrange for essential medical equipment, such as life support ventilators, oxygen tanks, and syringe/infusion pumps, to facilitate the safe and comfortable transportation of your loved one back home.

Additionally, healthcare professionals trained in ventilator management can be organized to assist family members during this challenging time, ensuring seamless support and compassionate care throughout the process.

Q9) How many family members are allowed and can I sit with the patient at the back of the ambulance?

Our insurance only allows 1 family member to accompany the patient to hospital or home

Due to safety reasons, the appointed family member will sit beside the ambulance driver in the passenger seat.

Only in special situations such as Emergency Childbirth, Paediatric Cardiac Arrest and/or Paediatric emergencies, the paramedic will then allow the family member to accompany the patient at the back of the ambulance.

Feel free to seek permission from the paramedic attending to your case.
